How does an Amber Teething Necklace work?

Amber has many therapeutic qualities and provides natural pain relief.   Amber works by the skin warming the amber which releases healing oils and the oils are then absorbed into the blood stream. Amber reduces red inflamed cheeks and stimulates the thyroid glands to reduce drooling. It is known to boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, accelerate would healing, reduce inflammation of the throat, ear and stomach infections and respiratory disease.

The active ingredient is succinic-acid which was analysed by the pioneer of modern bacteriology, the Nobel-prize winner Robert Koch who confirmed its positive influence and recent scientific research has also proved that succinic acid has a very positive influence on the human organism.

Will this necklace fix my babies teething issues?

What are the clasp and cord made from ?

Safety is a priority for us.  The teething necklaces available at Whiskers on Kittens use synthetic plastic clasps with a screw thread which has been glued into the barrel of the clasp NOT sterling silver clasps.  Sterling silver clasps are designed for fashion and high end jewellery so that the clasps DO NOT release and so you don't lose your jewellery.  Plastic screw clasps are designed to release if any great pressure is applied to the joint.  A cotton mix thread is used. Silk is not used as it will not break under great pressures, and cotton alone is not used as it will erode easily.

Your necklaces should not have extended contact with water. With prolonged exposure to water the thread may become brittle.

Should my baby wear the necklace 24/7?

We do not recommend that your baby wears the necklace unsupervised.  At nighttime you may wish to move the necklace to around the babies ankle, placed under a sock or jumpsuit.

The necklace may be worn from birth onwards, or as soon as the baby starts teething or showing any signs of pain or discomfort from teething.

As a safety feature there is a knot before and after each bead, so that even in the extremely unlikely event of the string being torn, no beads are lost and there is no risk of choking.

Should my baby chew on the necklace?

It will not cause any harm to the child, however the necklace is made for wearing, not for chewing. The Baltic Amber Necklace is extremely light, and warm to the touch. Your child will probably not realize that they are wearing a necklace at all.
